On 22–23 June, the partners of the RETES project met in Heraklion, Crete, for the latest in-person project meeting, hosted in one of the project’s pilot areas.
The meeting brought together the project consortium to review the work carried out so far, exchange updates from the different pilot areas and coordinate the next stages of implementation. Over the two days, partners had the opportunity to discuss ongoing activities, reflect on the progress achieved and align their work for the coming months.
As a project focused on strengthening resilience in tourism through education and skills, RETES is currently advancing in several areas, including the analysis of local tourism and civil protection ecosystems, the engagement of local stakeholders, and the preparation of future training and cooperation activities. In this context, the Heraklion meeting was an important moment to connect local experiences with the broader transnational perspective of the project.
Particular attention was given to the progress made in the pilot areas, where partners are working to better understand how tourism stakeholders and civil protection actors can cooperate to prevent and manage risks affecting tourism destinations. These local insights are helping to shape the next steps of the project and will contribute to the development of training materials and cooperation models tailored to the needs of the sector.
The meeting also marked the start of the joint work needed for the next key project outputs. Partners took the first steps towards the development of the RETES Methodology Booklet, the Action Plan and the full set of e-learning materials, including the micro-credentials foreseen within the training pathway. These exchanges were essential to build a shared approach and ensure consistency across the outputs to be produced in the coming months.
The RETES consortium will continue working in the coming months on the next phases of the project, building on the exchanges and decisions made during the Heraklion meeting.
The project partners look forward to meeting again in Kotor for the next transnational project meeting.
